Invalid Serial Number

I'm having yet another issue installing a free theme with MyColors and Impulse.  This time it's the new Halloween theme.  Impulse lists this theme on my registration page as [no serial number needed] and sure enough when I click install, it says a serial number is needed.  Unlike the Diamond Theme, which you can get a working serial from the online store by buying a "free" theme (how is that for intuitive???), or the Burgundy theme which was added with a serial number you can't do that with this one.   So how do we install this one?  I'm guessing, UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, A, B, but that isn't working for me.

 

EDIT: Ok I figured the intuitive solution.  Go to registration page, right click on the Halloween Theme, click update registration, delete the text that says [No serial number required], then put a space (since you can't click apply with no text in there), then click apply (it will now say Serial number associated with account), and now you can finally install it.

As a recommendation to Star Dock, you might want to work on making the installation of all these things a little more consistant. As I'm sure you are aware, customers should not have to jump through all these hoops.

The free suites that are given to Object Desktop accounts do require serial numbers. They will be automaticly attached to your account.

Make sure that you are logged into your account here then use this link:

The serial numbers for you account will be listed here. If it continues to ask for registration click on the key icon in Impulse (top right) then hit 'add registration'. If the serial number exsists there already just right click on it and hit remove.

Or to make it even more simple run MyColors, hit Add Registration and use the info found at the above link to fill in the serial field and you should be all set!

That is great to know, but how come it isn't showing up in Impulse? This is one I would dearly love to try, but it isn't in my Desktop under My Colors. Any clue as to why?

Try using the old theme manager and see if it shows there.  I have a few suites that only appear under the theme manager and not impulse or mycolors.

Running Impulse right now...but the MyColors Halloween Suite isn't showing up at all...how do I get it to show up on Impulse...not showing on SDC or Theme Manager either

If you do not see the Halloween theme in Impulse then the 2 most likely causes are:

1) You do not have an active Object Desktop or WinCustomize subscription, therefore you did not receive a registration for it.

2) You are logged onto Impulse with a different account than to which the registration was assigned.  If you have multiple accounts or email address with Stardock please try your account accounts or contact support@stardock.com for assistance.

Nope, neither of those. My OD is good through Feb. 09, and I only have one account for Impulse, Stardock and WC......all the same and all linked. Any other reason?

I've posted this on Wincustomize in the announcement thread, but I'm having the same problems as Immy.  My OD subscription doesn't expire until January 29, 2009.  This theme is not showing up in Impulse MyDesktop, I can't find where to access it anywhere.  I'm logged in, Impulse is updated, I've sent off an e-mail to support@stardock, and heard nothing back yet except the automatically generated receipt e-mail with a ticket number on it.

I'm posting this just to let those of you who are experiencing the same thing, that you're not alone.

k10w3 just a thought on your problem, you haven't recently changed anything with you account info like you email have you?

I had to actually go in and update Impulse, it didn't update automatically. When that was done, and I restarted, it still didn't show.  But when I did a second restart, I checked my registration there, and Halloween was there, so I updated that registration, and when I went to My Desktop, it was there....and I was able to install from there. Hope that helps.
